The actor continues to pave his way towards the prestigious Hollywood Awards.

Summary:

  • Austin Butler has officially joined Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming movie Caught Stealing.
  • The actor will take up the leading role of a former baseball player who finds himself in the midst of the criminal world of New York City.
  • Butler’s collaboration with the famous director may also bring him critics’ accolades and another Oscar nomination since 2022’s Elvis.

Austin Butler seems to be ready to take up another leading role — the actor, who recently starred with quite a memorable appearance in Dune: Part 2 alongside other members of Villeneuve’s star-studded cast, has just joined Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming movie Caught Stealing.

The plot will come primarily from Charlie Huston’s 2004 book about former baseball player Hank Thompson whose total burn-out leads to the character’s sudden decision to take up a bartender’s job in the thick of New York City’s criminal world that sooner or later will dare him to fight for survival.

It’s also confirmed that Huston himself will write the script.

How Did Austin Butler Become Famous?

Austin Butler’s moment of fame has never left him ever since 2022, though his career started long before with Butler’s appearances in less known sitcoms.

His breakout role of Elvis Presley in Buz Luhrmann’s 2022 epic drama is the actor’s biggest and most impressive performance so far — given at least the fact that Butler had to learn a specific way of talking to resemble Elvis even more. And he got so immersed in the process that even now can’t fully go back to his normal voice.

A New Oscars Darling?

Butler’s collaboration with Darren Aronofsky is indeed another golden opportunity for the actor to show the versatility of his talent as the proclaimed director often takes out of his actors their most tremendous performances — remembering Natalie Portman in Black Swan or Brendan Fraser in The Whale will be enough.

Now that Austin Butler is in for Aronofsky’s next film, he may already weigh in his chances for taking home some major awards given that the director’s movies are something common on the awards season’s top list.

If the stars line up for Butler’s possible acclaimed performance in Caught Stealing, he may have all chances to get his second Oscar nomination after portraying Elvis — and maybe this time he won’t be left with just a nomination.
