A must watch for the fans of all things historical.

When we meet some actors in comedies, we form a particular opinion about their acting skills and whatever they are capable of. For example, there’s nothing more suitable for each other than Adam Sandler and romantic comedies. But if you see him playing in Uncut Gems you’ll see that he is much more than you give him credit for.

The same goes about, for example, Emily Blunt. Despite the fact that she has been in a handful of rather serious movies, the first role that comes to mind when thinking about the actress is without doubt her role of Miranda Priestly’s assistant in the Devil Wears Prada.

Yes, she has come a long way since that, earning her an Oscar nomination for Oppenheimer, but there’s a movie with her in a leading role that can be easily chosen as the one where she gave her best performance.

The movie in the question is a 2009 biopic called The Young Victoria directed by Big Little Lies' Jean-Marc Vallée and written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes. Already sounds promising, huh?

The film helped Blunt step up her game by putting her in the shoes of the long-reigning ruler around the time she ascended to the British throne. In the movie, Blunt encapsulated the character's coming-of-age experience, from having to grow up overnight when she became queen to falling madly in love with Prince Albert.

After the movie’s premiere, it was the audience that fell in love with the actress once again. The stunning performance she gave was highly acclaimed by the viewers, although the movie itself ended up only having a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Still, the fans of the royal story about queen Victoria mainly prefer Emily Blunt’s movie to the later premiered Tv series of the same premise.

“My wife is a big fan of the Emily Blunt Young Victoria movie and also felt let down by the miniseries. The movie is more of a romance with some political intrigue with a great score so I recommend it,” Redditor photometric said.

The Young Victoria is available to stream on Netflix.
