Hollywood's tendency to focus on money instead of art has always been notorious among movie buffs, but things got even worse in the '90s, when remakes of beloved original films became a common tactic for all the major movie studios.

Here are 10 of the worst remakes of all time:

People tend to hate remakes for one simple reason – the Hollywood heavyweights don't care about the audience and their childhoods. A whole bunch of great old movies have been completely ruined by bad remakes, not only disappointing older viewers who just wanted to relive the magic of the original, but also discouraging younger viewers from ever seeing the great first movies themselves.

Of course, the world has seen a plethora of great remakes in recent years, but fans are still concerned about the trend, arguing that Hollywood producers should spend more time developing original ideas and less time recycling old IPs for profit ("Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," one of the biggest box office bombs of 2023, kinda proves that.)

However, remakes are still making a lot of money at the box office, as evidenced by the success of "The Little Mermaid" last year, and it's unlikely that Hollywood executives will stop producing them in the near future.
