Supernatural will always hold a special place in our hearts, but these plots aged like milk.

Supernatural is one of those shows that make people obsessive over certain characters, pairings, or storylines. To this day, the internet is full of debates about which Winchester son was their father’s favorite, and how unfair some of the deaths in the show were. Love it or hate it, but you cannot deny the impact that Supernatural has made.

There are, however, some parts of the show that the majority of fans would gladly forget. Even the absolute fan favorites, like Sam Winchester himself, had their fair share of questionable storylines.

Here are five of them that still make all Supernatural fans cringe to this day.

Old Sam

This one is just laughable more than anything else. Although the scenes with elderly Sam were supposed to be a grand touching finale, it felt like the Supernatural Hair and Makeup department decided to wing it at the last minute. A messy wig, unrealistic makeup topped with Jared Padalecki 's weird mannerisms still haunts Supernatural fans in nightmares.

Sam Controlling Dean’s Friendship

It’s as clear as the day that Sam was always Dean’s favorite brother, best friend, and his top priority, no matter what they’ve gotten themselves into. However, that wasn’t enough for Sam, as he demanded Dean to end his friendship with Benny. Not only did Benny never harm an innocent human, but also gave his life up for Sam later on.

Sam Not Looking For Dean

After Dean ended up in Purgatory and was forced to stay there for a year, it appeared that Sam never even went looking for his brother. To say that this writing decision disappointed the viewers would be an understatement, as the team didn’t even care enough to provide at least some sort of excuse for this behavior.

Sam Trying to Kill Crowley

Okay, can we really judge him for doing exactly what they’ve tried to do the whole series and killing a demon? Not really. However, lurking Crowley in by pretending to be Dean, and trying to murder him from afar was more cowardly than anyone expected. Knowing that Sam is far from a saint himself, his fake morality doesn’t help his case either.

Sam and Amelia

That’s the storyline that fans are not only trying to actively forget but pretend it had never even existed. Yes, Sam may not have been too lucky in his love life, but that wasn’t a good enough reason for happily agreeing to become a part of an affair. This relationship was a mess from the beginning to the very end.
