We still don't lose our hopes to see the iconic cast back at it again.

The Mummy franchise has had its ups and downs over the years, with varying degrees of success.

Fans are excited about the possibility of a fourth installment, and with the franchise's main star, Brendan Fraser aka Rick O'Connell, confirming that he would be open to doing the fourth film, we can't stop thinking about a possible reunion of the beloved cast.

But creating something with a finished story and a solid fan base could be risky. That's why it's important to learn from the mistakes of the past and make sure that the next film uses the right instruments for success.

Here are 5 things that we think The Mummy 4 should follow to make a great movie.

1. Don't Forget About The Origin

According to Brendan Fraser's interview with Variety, the main problem of The Mummy Returns with Tom Cruise, which he felt was crucial — was the lack of the main ingredient of the original adventure story.

The 1997 Mummy never had the intention to scare the audience like the 2017 Mummy did.

The main idea of the franchise has always been to take the audience on an exciting adventure, that thrills and chills, but doesn't scare, and that is what the next installment has to remember to win fan's attention back.

2. All Major Characters Must Be Back

The biggest mistake made during the making of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was not casting all of the original actors.

The absence of Rachel Weisz, who played the resourceful and intelligent Evelyn O'Connell, was drastically felt throughout the film.

Though Maria Bello, who played a character instead, gave an adequate performance, a changed cast and the lack of a vital part of the movie always feels like an awful sharp.

If the fourth part is ever going to happen, the only way it would work is if the entire central cast comes back.

3. A Powerful Villain

A strong antagonist with a rich and interesting backstory is essential for a compelling narrative.

None of the Mummy sequels have been able to top their main villain, Imhotep, whose story gave fans both thrill and sympathy during the first two parts of the movie.

The Mummy 4 should introduce the same formidable and charismatic villain who poses a significant threat to the protagonists.

A well-developed antagonist with believable motivations and depth will create a more engaging conflict between him and the O'Connell family.

4. Bring Back The Chemistry

Rick and Eve's portrayal of the good-girl-and-bad-guy relationship in the first two installments of the franchise was a melody to our souls.

Their relationship begins as playful banter, but as the story progresses and they find themselves in dangerous situations, their bond strengthens and their undeniable chemistry leads them into an indissoluble union.

The Mummy 3 decided to take it away and make the love couple try to find their chemistry back. And that's what fans never want to see ever again. In the next movie, we demand Rick and Eve's spark back.

5. The Golden Mix Of Comedy And Action

The key moment that separates the first two installments from their successors is the secret formula of balancing action and comedy.

The goofiness of the main characters never pushed the movies too far, as it always felt natural and gave the character more charisma, and it was always balanced with the right amount of adventure.

The sequels couldn't provide such a balance, while The Mummy 3 had some inappropriate witty moments and The Mummy Returns completely forgot such a vital part and went completely into horror.

The new installment must bring back the golden formula of the original movies because it's something The Mummy simply can not continue to exist without.

If The Mummy 4 follows these 5 keys to success and gives fans what they've been asking for, it has every chance to be a decent sequel to our favorite action-adventure story of all time.
