8 Reasons Why Community and Marvel Movies Exist in the Same Universe

Community might be a sitcom filled with meta-humor, but fans believe that it could be a perfectly fitting component of the MCU. Here are eight reasons why.

1. The Multiverse Has Been Real All Along

The Marvel movies brought the Multiverse into the mainstream, but Community played with the concept long before that.

The show explores the idea of alternate, darker timelines that exist simply because the study group decides to settle an argument with a roll of the dice. Plus, people could seamlessly travel to another timeline. Remind you of anything?

2. Secret Organizations Hide in Plain Sight

The MCU has a number of super-secret organizations that drive the plot of the movies, including S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra. Well, something like that is also a part of the Community world.

There is an elite Air Conditioning Repair School, which is supposed to be some kind of secret society that holds a lot of power over the world, and the one and only Troy Barnes was once a member!

3. Greendale Has Ties to a Hydra Base

Remember how Ian Duncan triggered an airstrike by accident in one of the episodes? He just called the college's supply line, and that was the result.

Maybe it's because Greendale is somehow connected to a military base, most likely a Hydra one. Frankly, no one should be surprised – the college is one enormous red flag.

4. Abed Joins S.H.I.E.L.D.

In season 2, Abed Nadir caught the eye of Secret Service agent Robin Vohlers, and they went on to have a relationship of sorts.

Perhaps, that is how Abed ended up as one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s employees after graduation (Danny Pudi made a cameo appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier).

5. The Dean Is… Still the Dean

Dean Pelton, played by Jim Rash, might've finally lost his Greendale gig after the Hydra base was discovered and moved on to M.I.T.

The actor plays the Dean of M.I.T. in Captain America: Civil War – someone could've given Craig the job as a means to shut him up about all the Hydra business at Greendale.

6. Chang Is Thriving

Ben Chang has had the most versatile jobs over the years, and he was once a security guard. Considering that Ken Jeong appeared in the same role in Avengers: Endgame, Chang seems to be doing just fine without Greendale.

7. Shirley Has Connections in S.H.I.E.L.D.

Yvette Nicole Brown portrayed a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the '70s in Avengers: Endgame. While that couldn't have been Shirley, it could've easily been her mom or aunt, and Shirley just happens to share a lot of the facial features with her.

8. Troy Finally Becomes a Superhero

Donald Glover exited the show in season 5, and his character supposedly went on a boat trip around the world with an idol of his.

We later found out that pirates captured Troy and Levar. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Glover played Miles Morales' uncle who Peter Parker stopped from buying a gun.

The theory is a bit of a stretch, but what if Troy didn't like his "international notoriety," so he changed his name (and later became the Prowler) and wanted to buy a super-weapon because he wanted to be better prepared in case someone tried to rob him again?

Jeff, Annie, and Britta may not have popped up in the MCU yet, but that doesn't mean they won't.
