Seems like females are taking over the MCU.

We all know and love the incredible characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but did you know that some of them have undergone a gender swap?

The creative minds behind the MCU have shaken things up by reimagining certain characters, and we are going to take a closer look.

Ghost

In Ant-Man and the Wasp, we were introduced to the intriguing antagonist, Ghost, played by Hannah John-Kamen. The actress will reprise the role in the upcoming Thunderbolts.

Taskmaster

Fans were thrilled to see Taskmaster make an appearance in Black Widow. However, this time around, the iconic villain was portrayed by Olga Kurylenko.

In the comics, Taskmaster has traditionally been a male character. The character is also expected to return in Thunderbolts.

Mar-Vell

Captain Marvel introduced us to the legendary Kree warrior, Mar-Vell. In the comics, Mar-Vell was a male character, but the film made Mar-Vell a female, portrayed by the talented Annette Bening.

The Ancient One

Traditionally depicted as an elderly Asian man in the comics, the MCU took a bold step by casting a female actress for this pivotal role, and it was a wise decision.

Tilda Swinton is a great actress and she totally nailed the role in Doctor Strange and Avengers: Endgame.

Makkari

In Eternals, Lauren Ridloff brought the super-speedy Makkari to life. While Makkari has been depicted as a male character in the comics, the MCU decided to make Makkari a deaf female.

Sprite

In the same film, we have Sprite, played by Lia McHugh. In the comics, Sprite is a young boy, but the MCU reimagined the character. Anyway, McHugh managed to bring Sprite's mischievous and playful energy with her performance.

In the comics, Ajak is a male character, but the MCU cast Salma Hayek as the wise and compassionate leader in Eternals.
