Experiencing separation anxiety due Severance Season 2 finale? I got you. This 2020 sci-fi dystopia might make it a little less painful.

In life, everything comes to an end sooner or later. It's just how things go, we can't really do anything about it. But there's something so bittersweet particularly about reaching the end of a great TV show.

As Severance 's second season comes to its conclusion, we are all desperately hoping for a third installment announcement (come on, we need more!). That familiar void after finishing an exceptional series is setting in and I know exactly how you feel.

Though there are a bunch of recommendations floating around that claim to capture the same essence Severance did, I've yet to see a project that would align with the atmosphere of our favorite show. That's why when I came across a mini series that gave me that delicious Severance vibe, I knew I had to share it with everybody else.

Devs (2020): Silicon Valley's Dark Secret Might Be Your Next Obsession

In 2020, when the world was the quietest it could ever be, FX dropped the eight-episode mini series like no other.

Created, directed and written by Alex Garland, the master behind Ex Machina (2014) and Annihilation (2018) Devs follows Lily Chan, a software engineer working at a prestigious tech company. When her boyfriend mysteriously disappears after being transferred to the company's secret department, she begins to suspect that something dark is going on underneath.

Devs is great at making you feel like you're just a tiny piece in a giant corporate machine. I bet it already sounds familiar, isn’t it?

Severance Fans Will Feel Right at Home

That brings me to the next point. Perhaps the most important one and the reason why you are here in the first place.

If you're already missing Lumon's sterile scenes and philosophical undertones, Devs will feel like a warm, although slightly unsettling hug. And it’s ready to take you with its open arms.

Just like Severance, Devs has corporate intrigue and mind-blowing sci-fi concepts. The show's pristine aesthetic and eerie atmosphere will definitely remind you of Lumon. And its exploration of free will and determinism hits just as hard as our favorite show's themes of identity and consciousness.

And if you thought Mark's story was intense, wait until you see Sonoya Mizuno's Lily trying to uncover the truth about what's really happening in that mysterious building. The show might move at a slower pace, but every moment builds up to something absolutely worth watching for.

So to make separation from Severance a little bit easier, you need to give Devs a watch. You can binge the whole thing right now on Hulu, no agonizing wait for the next season required.
