It’s truly a sweet treat for every genre veteran.

There is no doubt that after starring in Furiosa, Mad Max ’s epic prequel, Anya Taylor-Joy is now one of the most demanded young actresses in the industry. It was already proved in 2020, with her breakthrough role in Netflix ’s top-tier The Queen's Gambit series.

Since then the actress has participated in a number of notable projects, but one movie definitely stands out among them. Even though it was released 2 years ago, this thriller is now still gaining strong viewership and is conquering HBO’s global top too.

The film’s plot revolves around a couple who travels to a private island to eat at a prestigious restaurant operated by a celebrity chef. As the dinner begins and a series of courses is introduced, it becomes clear that this night will be the last one for the guests.

Not delving much into spoilers, let’s say that this movie is going to surprise you a lot with its incredibly inventive twists and unnerving tone. More than that, Taylor-Joy’s protagonist appears to be one of the most badass female leads in the movie history.

Overall, it’s very much of a horror-thriller, as it offers a really unsettling atmosphere and a number of disturbing scenes that are hard to watch. That is why it becomes really reminiscent of such female-led horrors, as 2019’s brilliant Ready or Not and Midsommar.

Besides, it also serves up top-notch black comedy that mocks social inequality. If you’re a fan of another satirical hit of 2022, Triangle of Sadness, you’ll certainly like Taylor-Joy’s thriller. The depth of its social commentary also makes it similar to The Platform (2019).

Titled The Menu, this comedy thriller was a huge critical success that was praised for the elaborate screenplay and performances of the leading cast that also assembled Nicholas Hoult (X-Men, The Great) and Harry Potter ’s Lord Voldemort, Ralph Fiennes.

“A rare movie that has awesome writing, acting, direction and cinematography which is also wholey original,” concludes Redditor @zenejinzorin.

Don’t miss this outstanding thriller with the Furiosa star, as The Menu is available for streaming on Prime.
