Firehouse 51 crew is definitely not taking it easy in Season 12 of Chicago Fire.

Summary:

  • Chicago Fire Season 12 is coming in January 2024, and the premiere’s official synopsis is already out.
  • With Severide’s return, Gallo’s leave, and Firehouse 17 moving into 51, tensions will be high.
  • Fans have bizarre but surprisingly accurate predictions about Season 12’s first few episodes.

Chicago Fire Season 12 is in active production now, but the show guards its secrets well. Apart from a couple of leaked BTS pictures, there’s not much else we can go off of, but recently, new details about the upcoming season were released to the public.

What’s Cooking in Firehouse 51 in Season 12?

Kelly Severide is, indeed, returning to Chicago Fire, and he’ll be there from the first episodes. Our favorite non-veteran firefighter will get back to work immediately, but despite that, he’ll have to deal with something more terrifying than fire: his wife’s wrath. Stella Kidd will be the one to get him back — in person, as we saw in S11.

The marriage between the two will face some serious cracks thanks to Kelly’s sudden leave and lack of communication, but he had that coming, anyway. Aside from Stellaride, Blake Gallo will bid his farewell in the premiere episode while Sylvie Brett will stick for a while before leaving. There will be some new additions, too.

The tension in Firehouse 51 will be running pretty high in general thanks to the new and not-quite-welcome neighbors: the Firehouse 17 crew will be moving in. No one will be taking it easy amid Severide’s return, Boden and Kidd’s meltdowns about it, double quit, Mouch on the brink of death, and the 17 and 51 crews sharing the HQ.

What Do Fans Say About S12 Revelations?

Learning the news about Season 12 had Chicago Fire fans in lifted but goofy spirits as they started improvising the first few episodes based on the show’s classic tropes from the previous seasons. Though ridiculous, their predictions seem accurate.

“Severide had to go deep undercover. Yet again forgetting if he is a firefighter or a cop. <...> Kidd in some narcissistic rant, is going to make this about something completely unrelated yet will still be all about her. By the end of the episode, they are completely fine like nothing ever happened. Then Boden yells and shakes the building and the walls and then Gallo dies from structural collapse at 51,” Reddit user hoagiebreath suggested.

Gallo’s exit, too, fell victim to this fan roleplay fantasy about Season 12’s premiere.

“Stella would probably be like, ‘If I was here when Boden yelled, I would have saved Gallo,’ and then Episode 3 is everyone telling the new guy, ‘You are not Gallo and you will never replace him,’ and Episode 4 is, ‘What is a Gallo or who is Gallo?’” another Redditor added.

Funny predictions aside, others went pretty harsh on the Stellaride power couple, too. As per usual, Stella got her daily dose of hatred, and some fans even admitted that they’d be cheering if Severide’s arson training program absence led to divorce.

“Personally, I would be fine if [Stella and Kelly’s] marriage ended. I never liked their relationship as Stella isn’t really one of my favorite characters. Regardless of what ends up happening, I’m just happy to have Severide back on the show,” Stardust12907 said.

The update on Gallo’s exit — if not from the Boden-made structural collapse, that is — seems like a deathless one to fans. Many expect him to transfer to a different Firehouse, either 17 or 25 to join Pelham. Still, we can’t discard the possibility of him dying, even though admittedly, there have been enough deaths on Chicago Fire now.
