Homer, you would’ve loved it.

While some of Christopher Nolan ’s fans are delving into Homer’s Odyssey to get an idea of what the director’s future movie will be like, others might have just come up with a completely different take on the adaptation — and, honestly, it’s wild.

Concerns about Nolan’s ability to bring an Ancient Greek plot to the big screen have been running around ever since the project was announced, but the director still can leave all the big risks behind by going back to his most impressive story to-date (at least that’s what those creative fans suggest).

Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey Can Become Interstellar ’s Sequel

Yeah, that’s right — after all, in Nolan’s cinematic universe even Homer’s epic poetry can be turned into a futuristic adventure through galaxies and their menacing Cyclope-like monsters.

Though it’s so far a pretty unrealistic theory, fans believe that Nolan’s adaptation still wouldn’t follow Homer’s poem as strictly as possible, and at some point might in fact turn to space themes, expanding Interstellar’s narrative and giving a closer look at humanity's attempt to relocate to another planet.

Additionally, rumour has it that Nolan has recently been in touch with his forever-favourite cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema who collaborated with the director on massive hits like Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tent and Oppenheimer. Together Nolan and van Hoytema have allegedly been testing new IMAX film cameras that are said to be the perfect choice for depicting vast space landscapes.

Odyssey Might Have a Great Take on Interstellar’s Most Important Themes

Though they do seem to be stories from completely different worlds (and they actually are), Homer’s Odyssey in fact reflects on the same themes Nolan put his focus on in Interstellar.

Apart from the entire narrative about a long journey, whether it lies through planet Earth’s most mysterious places or another galaxy’s landscapes, both Odyssey and Interstellar expand their sci-fi-centred story with touching tributes to love and family which make the plot even more profound or sometimes utterly tragic.

Whether Nolan’s Odyssey will indeed take place in space or not, it’s definitely the earthy complications that will push the plot forward, bringing in even more stunning visuals than Interstellar once gave us.
