Did This Facebook Event Just Spoil RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 Finale?

Fans are worried that this top-tier season can get worse if this theory comes true. And we think we already have an answer.
Season 17 of RuPaul's Drag Race has been one of the most enjoyable seasons of the last couple of years. We already had fights that'll go down as the most iconic ones in Drag Race herstory. We had Kori King being Kori King (which is already entertaining in itself). We had some very unexpected queens eliminated and the levels of delusion is through the roof. Quite a fun, unique and talented season overall.
Yet all this could go to waste with just one decision. The real gag of the season might have come from the most unexpected place: a Facebook's event. Yeah, let's figure this one out together.
RuPaul Drag Race Facebook Event That Got Fans Talking
All of this came to be when the official RuPaul's Drag Race Facebook page created an event titled “RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 Top 5 World Pride Closing Party” scheduled for June 8th. Fans immediately started connecting dots and questioning whether this was an accidental reveal of a top 5 finale format.
“Did a Facebook event spoil how many queens going into finale? Saw this posted earlier,” Redditor surejan1776 wondered.
However, there were reasonable points against that. As Redditor cmstlist noted:
“The finale is supposed to air April 18. So maybe the gist of it is just that they've decided to invite the Top 5 to this particular event as a big blast of a World Pride closing party.”
And this one makes total sense. After all, if this was truly a spoiler, wouldn't the social media team have taken it down by now?
Fans Are Saying “No Ma'am” to a Top 5
Despite it likely being just an announcement of 5 queens being invited to a Pride event, the possibility of a top 5 finale has fans actually worried. This Season 14's format still haunts some of us, with Redditor b3tamaxx perfectly summing it up:
“[Top 5 is] the reason everyone tries to forget s14.”
And we can't help but think the same way. Season 14's finale with five queens was just too much. PlumDock6360 said what many of us are thinking:
“I'm really hoping for a top 3 again this season. I love the individual performances vs a lip sync smack down. S16's finale felt perfect for me.”
Less really is more, especially when it comes to such an important part of the show.
Whether this Facebook event is a genuine spoiler or just an innocent party announcement (which we think is more likely), one thing's for certain: this season of RuPaul's Drag Race continues to keep us on our toes. And isn't that exactly what we live for?
For now, we can continue to enjoy new episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 17 every Friday on MTV.
