All props to Matt Smith for bringing him to life!

Summary:

  • Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series that has been on the air since 1963.
  • The show follows the adventures of an alien called the Doctor, who has the ability to regenerate, allowing him to change his face.
  • Each incarnation of the Doctor is slightly different, not only in appearance but also in personality.
  • Although the 11th Doctor is known to be the most childlike, fans believe he is also the angriest.

One of the best things about Doctor Who is the way it manages to stay so fresh and different without losing the continuity of the story.

Although it follows the adventures of one particular alien with various companions, it never gets boring because the Doctor himself is constantly changing and evolving.

The alien who has lived through centuries is sure to be an old soul, no matter what body he ends up in. Over the years, Doctor Who has been notable not only for its fun stories and different alien concepts, but also for its great casting choices when it comes to the show's main character.

From Christopher Eccleston as the 9th incarnation of the Doctor, and the first after the great hiatus, to the 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa, there was not a single mistake.

But, all Whovians had to agree, there was one NuWho Doctor who managed to perfectly embody the childish nature of a character with a heavy burden of every loss he had to go through.

The Eleventh Doctor Character Arc

Matt Smith 's 11th Doctor was initially greeted with a certain amount of scepticism by the fandom. He was the youngest actor to take on the role of a centuries-old alien, and he was following in the footsteps of fan favourite David Tennant, so he had a lot to prove in order to be accepted.

However, as the episodes progressed, viewers came to appreciate the unique approach the writers were taking with this incarnation.

Although very youthful and somewhat childish on the outside, the 11th Doctor carried a lot of grief on the inside, which found its way out in every stressful situation.

His whole arc had a sweet and whimsical feel to it, which made the moments of rage all the more powerful. And he had quite a few.

Even before the tragic death of Ponds, viewers had already had a glimpse of the Doctor's dark side. From the way he treated Angel Bob at the beginning of his run, to his infamous dialogue with Madame Kovarian, the 11th Doctor delivered the lines in a way that made the blood freeze in the veins of the audience.

In the 7B part of the 11th series, after the Ponds were gone, his whole demeanor changed even more, fully embracing the darkness and devastation of yet another loss.

Matt Smith's perfect ability to switch between fun and light-hearted and downright menacing has made his Doctor the scariest, but in the best possible way.

If you're feeling down and want to rewatch the whole arc of the 11th Doctor, series 5 to 7 of Doctor Who are available on Max. Keep an eye out for news and behind-the-scenes updates on series 14, starring Ncuti Gatwa, which will be released later this year.
