The first episode of 'Moon Knight', the sixth television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, is now streaming on Disney+, already getting 94% of approval on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hawke, who plays the main villain, revealed to Variety that the opening scene of the first episode was his idea.

(Spoiler Alert!)

'Moon Knight ' begins with the scene introducing the audience to Hawke's character – Dr. Arthur Harrow, the show's villain. He smashes the glass and fills his sandals with glass shards before putting them on and walking away.

Though the actor admitted that he used false glass because he didn't want to "go full Daniel Day-Lewis" and cut his feet, he spent some time to really dig into the character's psyche.

"I started thinking about spiritual people who go crazy, who get mad on their own spiritual pride", Hawke says.

The actor believes that self-harming can be common for such people and that they can hate themselves "because we all have sin, and the idea that somebody is free of sin is not really possible if you're human".

According to his own words, Hawke was pleasantly surprised that Marvel took his idea and actually shot the scene. Some 'Moon Knight' fans take the scene very much to heart, so, perhaps, Hawke would be pretty satisfied with such a reaction:
