One can dream...

If you've ever watched a movie in the last 30 years, I bet you know who Quentin Tarantino is. His unique style, witty dialogue, and unconventional storytelling have made him a household name, turning even casual moviegoers into die-hard fans.

We also know that he loves breaking the rules, while still paying homage to the old cinema.

The Famous 10-Movie Rule: Tarantino’s Self-Imposed Challenge

There is one rule, though, that Tarantino is very serious about. And this is where it gets particularly interesting, so buckle up.

Tarantino has always been vocal about his intention to retire after making ten films. And from a first glance it may seem like just a random number, but it's his way of ensuring that his filmography remains complete, without any late-career slip-ups.

"I don't believe you should stay on stage until people are begging you to get off," the master said back in 2014.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was his 9th movie. After that, as you can imagine, the world froze in anticipation.

And in March 2023, we finally got what seemed like the big news – The Hollywood Reporter announced that Tarantino's tenth and final film would be called The Movie Critic. Set in late 1970s Los Angeles, it was supposedly going to follow a cynical male critic writing for a porno magazine. Very Tarantino.

But plot twist! In a turn of events that nobody saw coming, Tarantino decided to scrap the whole thing. Just like that, The Movie Critic joined the ranks of his other unrealized projects. Talk about keeping us on our toes!

And here we are, in 2025, still waiting for that legendary tenth film. And knowing Tarantino, whatever comes next will be worth every second of anticipation.

The 'Bounty Law' Solution: A Brilliant Loophole?

However, film journalist Kieran Fisher might have discovered the perfect workaround for Tarantino. The answer is: Bounty Law, that TV show from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. That black-and-white Western starring Leonardo DiCaprio 's character Jake Cahill. Tarantino has already written five episodes for Bounty Law.

This potential loophole is a very exciting possibility. It's a chance for Tarantino to continue creating without breaking his self-imposed limit.

Despite this clever workaround, we all need a reality check. There's something about Tarantino that suggests he might stick to his guns. He's always been a filmmaker who follows his own rules, even when they're self-imposed. One thing's certain: his impact on cinema will continue to influence filmmakers and entertain audiences for generations to come.
