Chris Hemsworth is on the path to prevention of a terrible disease.

Until recently, there was no free minute in a typical day for Chris Hemsworth — the actor spent a lot of time working out and filming.

Now, however, he must gradually reduce the number of hours spent in the gym and on the set in order to free up time to take care of his own health.

In 2022, doctors warned the actor about the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. Chris has an 8-10 times higher risk to end up with the disease than normal.

Chris found it out by accident: while filming a documentary series about the body and its capabilities, Limitless. He was diagnosed with a predisposition to neurodegenerative disease.

Doctors explained that Chris has two variations of the gene which scientists link to an increased risk of developing Alzheimer's.

The news forced Chris to seriously consider leaving Hollywood to take care of his health.

Over the past few months, Chris has undergone several follow-up tests and consulted with several doctors. All of them confirmed that he is indeed at risk of developing a serious illness.

The actor has been advised to rest more, sleep better, exercise less and minimize stress.

Now Hemsworth is involved in four major projects, including Avengers: Secret Wars, Extraction 2, Furiosa and an untitled Hulk Hogan biopic.

The shooting was planned long before the artist found out about his health problems.

Though he does not want to abruptly quit his job and leave his colleagues in the lurch, so he plans to take an indefinite leave of absence once they are completed.

Insiders told Page Six that the actor is no longer agreeing to new projects, and everything points to him being on the path of ending his career.

Like a true optimist, Chris began to look for the positives. The father of three had long worried that his workaholism had prevented him from seeing his wife and children for weeks.

The actor said that during the forced break he is going to "go home and… to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife."

The actor admits that, in a way, he is glad he found out about his predisposition so early. According to him, it allows him to be prepared and motivates him to always be in good physical and mental shape.

Hemsworth jokes that if he forgets some things, it can now be attributed to dementia.

The hope of the fans is that the disease will pass the actor by and that he will be able to safely resume his acting career soon.
