Well, after 35 years in the making, it seems only fair.

It’s not a secret that Yellowstone is today's most popular Western franchise on TV, but it seems like there’s a new cowboy in town ready to push Taylor Sheridan ’s show off the pedestal.

We are talking about Kevin Costner's upcoming project, Horizon. The actor's new series is a true passion project for Kevin Costner and is expected to include four films.

Of course, Costner will be the star of each movie, but he is also the writer and director of all four chapters. So for those Yellowstone fans who are devastated that Costner is leaving the franchise, there's still a chance to see him in a cowboy hat again.

Aside from him, there would be lots of other famous names in the series, and that even includes several Yellowstone stars. Overall, there’s going to be over 170 speaking roles for four movies.

With all this in mind, it seems obvious that Costner is ready to compete with Yellowstone, and maybe even surpass it. Costner has put a lot of time and effort into this project. Imagine: the original script of Horizon was finished 35 years ago!

Even though Yellowstone is a fan-favorite Western show, it doesn't change the fact that there were, shall we say, a lot of issues with the plot. The later seasons brought some kind of chaos to the storytelling. Since Horizon is a compact story, Costner can easily avoid such problems and focus on one big story at a time.

What also helps, of course, is the fact that Costner himself wants the project of his life to work out in the best possible way. He is personally involved in every little detail and is willing to spend a fortune on the production.

On top of that, he's even going to cast his son in one of the movies. Such a decision only signifies that Costner will do everything in his power to make Horizon a success.
