Could you imagine being friends with someone who can read your mind at any moment?

Edward Cullen may have been seen as the perfect boyfriend for many teenage girls around the world, but as the fanbase has grown, many have begun to think more practically.

It's not even a relationship question anymore, just a simple friendship with the guy doesn't seem so appealing.

"I would never choose to be friends with someone whose talent/gift is mind reading. So uncomfortable, knowing they will know literally every passing thought that I have while in their company.

Can't imagine wanting to voluntarily be around someone like that," Redditor ishooz said, posing a question for the fandom.

It turns out that most people would not find this a real problem. Although it might feel weird for a few decades, some think they'd get over it eventually.

Others even suggest a wide range of pranks based on this mind-reading gift: you could just think a lot of nonsense on purpose to keep Edward away from your thoughts at other times.

Not everyone would be in favor of such a friendship, however. Some fans point out that even in the fictional universe of Twilight, Edward wasn't particularly popular with anyone who wasn't part of his family.

While you can argue with his connection to Emmett or Alice, they are both Cullens and have no choice but to be on Edward's side.

This makes his story rather sad and adds another layer to how the greatest power of all may be the power to make people turn their backs on you. No wonder he ended up with Bella, she was the only girl whose mind he couldn't read, after all.

You can watch the saga again and decide if you'd be able to handle a friendship with a vampire yourself. Watch the Twilight movies on Netflix, Hulu, fuboTV, Showtime, and Paramount Plus.
