'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' is set to sweep the big screens on May 6, but it already eyes impressive milestones even before being released.
It seems that when it comes to pre-sales, only 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' managed to top the numbers that 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' currently shows.
According to early data analyzed by Jatinder on Twitter, 'Multiverse of Madness' sold around $15 million in ticket pre-sales in the first opening 24 hours. The Tom Holland Spider-Man trequel made $35 million in the first 24 hours, which was the largest number after 'Avengers: Endgame'.
'Multiverse of Madness' is currently on track to open at some $200 million on May 6, if the tendency remains. The Dr. Strange sequel has shown the best results in pre-sales in 2022, outrunning Matt Reeves' 'The Batman'.
These numbers will undoubtedly spike in the coming days, since many countries have not opened the pre-sales yet. The impressive numbers even lead some fans to believe that the movie will end up with a box office of $1 billion — or even more.
And there's less than a month to find out, as 'Multiverse of Madness' hits the screens on May 6.
