The Showrunner Himself Hinted at Possible Renewal

Meanwhile 'Our Flag Means Death' fandom on social media is buzzing with potential renewal discussions. Fans of the series noticed the dialogue of the showrunner of the project David Jenkins with one of the followers on Twitter.

And David was quick to answer:

And then a very intriguing clarification came:

"...season one I mean..."

Now fans of the series are wondering what David's somewhat cryptic words meant. Perhaps he knows that season two has already been greenlit, and now we just have to wait for the official confirmation from HBO Max.

In addition, David Jenkins celebrated the success of the show alongside its fans. For four weeks in a row, 'Our Flag Means Death' has remained the most in-demand new series. Quite an achievement for any breakout series, and this alone might be enough for HBO execs to renew it.

Cast and Creators Are In For It

In a recent interview with the LA Times David Jenkins and Taika Waititi were asked about the future of 'Our Flag Means Death'. They honestly admitted that they don't have the slightest idea of a second season yet. Nevertheless, both are very interested in a possibility of the project getting a season 2.

"I don't know anything. I just think that they should because it makes sense. Also, I need to know what happens next," said Waititi.

Fun fact: 'Our Flag Means Death' creators seem to actually know about the waves their little pirate show made on social media with petitions, fan predictions, a ton of fan arts and so on – and are very grateful for it.

"Just to go on [social media] and see it trend for like two weeks feels unreal. It's so gratifying, even not knowing if you're renewed, to see that people liked it that much", added David.
