The fact that the movie is yet to premiere is both reassuring and terrifying in this case.

This week could have brought so much joy to Marvel fans as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania released its second trailer... if it wasn't for how MODOK looks in it.

Look, we love The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, too, but it's been almost 20 years, and we kind of expected Marvel to move on and not make one of its main anti-heroes look like the actual Mr. Electric from Robert Rodriguez' movie.

It's not the first time when Marvel ruins its anti-heroes, especially those coming from other planets or even dimensions. In fact, fans think that even the most audacious villain looks in MCU are still way too... human.

Certainly, MODOK does look quite comic-accurate with his goofy large head pressed into this walking can or whatever that is, but the overall look does not sit well with fans. The fandom was clearly expecting Quantumania to live up to the 2023 visual standards and not just offer their own version of Mr. Electric.

"I really ain't a fan of the MCU scaling back the other worldly or alien look of some of their characters. To then only make them look like humans in suits or painted. Did it with Gorr. Hell even Ultron got a more human looking robot face," Twitter user FearDeFreak said, noting that MODOK "should look more f**ked up".

However, there is a different opinion. Many people argue that MODOK looks just as ugly and goofy as he is supposed to. After all, hardly anyone can blame Marvel for not being comic-accurate enough with the villain now. Besides, the masked version does look intimidating enough for Marvel to give us a rest with the unmasked look.

MODOK is portrayed by Corey Stroll — an actor who has already made an appearance in MCU as Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man movie. He is not the only villain of the movie, with Kang the Conqueror set to be the big bad guy not only in Quantumania, but in the entire Phase 5.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to hit theaters on February 17.
