Is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania a missed opportunity for the Fantastic Four?

Story-wise, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was considered to be an important movie. Thus, the expectations were high. It is really hard to admit, but the movie failed to live up to those expectations.

Some fans believe that maybe, just maybe, this movie would've been better suited for another superhero team — the Fantastic Four.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third installment in the Ant-Man series, and most of its action goes down in the Quantum Realm.

For the uninitiated: the Quantum Realm is a dimension in the Marvel Universe where all concepts of time and space become irrelevant. There, they meet Kang the Conqueror.

Kang the Conqueror, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, was another reason for the high expectations. While Majors’ performance was spot-on, his character wasn’t exactly the Kang we all expected to see.

The Quantum Realm is vast and unexplored, and while Ant-Man and his team have had their history with the Quantum Realm, some fans think that the Fantastic Four would've been a better fit for a story centered around this dimension.

A recent Reddit post sparked a lively discussion on this very topic. The poster believes Quantumania would've been a golden opportunity to introduce or further develop the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This isn't to say that Ant-Man and his team don't deserve their spotlight. They've given us some hilarious and heartwarming moments in the MCU. But let’s be honest, we loved the first Ant-Man movie and its sequel for their comedic and light-hearted tone.

Many fans think that a more serious movie with multiversal stakes simply didn’t work with Ant-Man. On the other hand, the same narrative with the Fantastic Four could've added a different flavor to the movie.

Would Quantumania have been better with the Fantastic Four leading the charge?

At the end of the day, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is part of the MCU, and we can’t really do anything about it. Let’s just hope the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, set to premiere on May 2, 2025, won't disappoint us as much as Quntamania did.
