The internet has once again taken up the age-old game of recasting beloved movies and shows with actors from a different era.

This time, Reddit users have turned their attention to the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, imagining what the show would look like if it were made in the 1980s. The results are a mix of inspired choices and head-scratchers, with some interesting debates and alternative takes thrown in for good measure.

One of the most popular choices among the recasting suggestions is Keanu Reeves as Jon Snow.

It's not hard to see why: with his brooding intensity and chiseled features, Reeves could definitely pull off the role of the stoic and honorable Stark bastard.

Michelle Pfeiffer as Cersei Lannister is another inspired choice, as she has the right mix of regal bearing and dangerous allure to make the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms come to life on screen.

But not all of the choices were quite so spot-on. Molly Ringwald as Sansa Stark, for instance, seems like a bit of a stretch. While Ringwald was certainly the queen of the teen movie genre in the 80s, it's hard to picture her as the highborn and haughty Lady of Winterfell. And Jim Varney as Ramsay Bolton? Let's just say that one is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Of course, one of the most hotly debated topics among the Reddit recasting suggestions was the role of Jaime Lannister. Some fans suggested Kiefer Sutherland, but others felt that he wasn't quite pretty enough for the role.

Patrick Swayze was a popular choice, but there were also calls for Brad Pitt to take on the part. Looks like when it comes to the dashing and conflicted Kingslayer, even fantasy casting is not an easy task.

Scrolling through the Reddit discussion, it's easy enough to notice that many of the recasting choices seem to be based more on the actors who were actually cast in the original series than on the suitability of the actors for the roles.

Some Redditors also admitted that the list was too heavily skewed toward A-list actors, and that it would be more fun to see some lesser-known performers take on the parts.
