Both Severance and Paradise are dystopian sci-fi shows, but in very different ways. Still, they are united in their love for plot twists. The way they deal with them is where the difference begins.

The world of science fiction television has given us some truly remarkable shows this year.

But the consensus is that AppleTV+'s Severance is a standout. Its eerie atmosphere, suspense, mind-bending twists, and exploration of the human psyche have been praised by critics and audiences alike.

However, there is one particular issue that keeps coming up among fans as a reason to hate the show: in order to create more chaos and completely confuse the viewers, they just introduce too many difficult plot twists that keep messing with our heads.

“Too many added twists....it's been so bad that now as older unanswered questions are being answered, I had already forgotten about them because 20 new questions have popped up. It's become like Twin Peaks on acid mixed by ether and after drinking a bottle of Benadryl. Wayyyyy too many loose ends left untied before others start fraying,” Reditor Many_Abroad_6 said.

As Severance unfolds, it feels like the mysteries are getting deeper, but no real answers are coming to light. This lack of resolution leaves some viewers feeling disconnected and even exhausted.

Paradise Nails Its Plot Twists Better Than Severance

However, Hulu 's latest gem, Paradise, seemed to take care of that and give fans exactly what they want while keeping the mystery alive.

“I haven’t been on the edge of my seat for a TV show like that in a long time. The way this series has actually answered viewer questions while continuing to keep mystery is commendable,” Redditor monke_business said.

Paradise takes a different approach to the art of suspense. While the show has its fair share of twists and turns, it manages to answer at least some of the important questions in each episode. Viewers are given enough information to keep them engaged, while still leaving some threads for future exploration.

This balance allows viewers to have a satisfying experience because we can enjoy the mystery, but not feel like we're stuck in an endless loop of unanswered questions.

Severance is available to stream on AppleTV+, while Paradise is streaming on Hulu.
