You thought it was the movie that ruined Teen Wolf for you?

Teen Wolf: The Movie left the fandom largely disappointed with how creator Jeff Davis handled the storylines and characters, but many people believe that the problem started much earlier.

For many fans, Teen Wolf began to deteriorate sometime after season 3, with the fourth chapter already feeling painfully different from what the fandom loved the show for.

Among the show's problems, fans cite a reluctance to use the show's strongest characters for the sake of "third-tier folks," as well as a lack of meaningful conflict and plot twists.

"The farther away from season one I get, the farther away from a well-thought out story the show is. It's the same pattern as The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones followed. At least those shows had stronger actors," Redditor MerelyWhelmed1 said.

Others noted that in recent seasons of Teen Wolf, the budgets seemed to be much more modest, so the crew tried to save money on wolf transformations and other visual effects.

Despite the fact that it was the movie that caused an uproar in the fandom, it looks like the universe was in trouble long before the movie hit screens.

However, the way the movie got rid of Derek Hale and sidelined fan-favorite characters like Stiles Stilinski and Kira Yukimura has led many people to believe that their favorite werewolf universe is far from its peak.

In addition, fans complain that the movie had many continuity errors and plot holes.

According to many people, the movie focused on introducing new characters in hopes of setting the stage for future projects, rather than actually trying to tell its own cohesive story.

Teen Wolf: The Movie is currently available for streaming on Paramount Plus.
