That’s just straight up uncomfortable.

Taylor Sheridan is an acclaimed director and writer, and many of his projects are popular with huge audiences, albeit as guilty pleasures — the kind of shows you just turn on and let your hair down.

But there are some things — first seen in Yellowstone and then in Landman — that turn his shows into a cringe parade.

The thing is, a lot of fans are still trying to wrap their heads around one question: why is he so hung up on this weird sexual tension between... fathers and daughters? At this point, the fandom thinks someone should tell him it's unnecessary and, frankly, just creepy.

“The dialog between Tommy and his daughter gives me an unpleasant visceral reaction. There were a lot of moments like this between Beth and John Dutton on Yellowstone as well. I feel like Landman would be much better if they cut this cr*p out,” Redditor Individual-Hunt9547 said.

The fan here is talking about one of the most uncomfortable dialogs in the show, when Tommy’s daughter Ainsley gave him a really detailed follow up on her sex life. The viewers felt bad for such a sensitive issue being portrayed the way it was — for so many reasons.

One of the reasons that proves it was, err, problematic to create such a scene is the fact that Ainsley is actually a minor. So not only is it uncomfortable for a father to have a conversation like that with his daughter, but talking about her sex life in the show at all sounds way too disturbing.

The weirdest thing that it was extremely easy to avoid this problem (at least a part of it).

“I also just find it strange that they've made the daughter 17 (a minor). I'd find her sexualization less bizarre if she was college-aged but instead she's still meant to be in high school and it's just...strange,” Redditor AmericanWanderlust said.

Well, there's only hope that Taylor Sheridan will listen to his fans and leave the uncomfortable subject out of Landman season 2 (if it ever happens).

Landman is available to stream on Paramount+.
