Last night at New York Comic-Con Jeff Davis and the cast of Teen Wolf: The Movie presented a new clip, and there's a lot to unpack.

From Derek Hale trying out that "responsible dad" role (and succeeding) to Allison's dramatic entrance, the clip was full of unexpected, intense and just overall great moments. The sweetest one? A subtle (or maybe not that subtle) reference to the original show and Scott McCall specifically.

In the very beginning, when we first see Derek and Eli interacting in the Beacon Hills High School's locker room, Eli is dressed in a very particular jersey with number 11 on it. In the original show it was Scott McCall who rocked that number all through his high school lacrosse career, however short and repeatedly interrupted with supernatural disasters it was. The locker room set is essentially the same as it was all the way back in season 3.

Tyler Posey already talked extensively on how happy Scott is to kind of "pass the torch" to Eli, and it seems like this "torch passing" thing is going to be referenced all through the movie, however symbolically, in more ways than one.

Allison's Comeback in Teen Wolf Movie Just Doesn't Make Sense

Scott's lacrosse days are long behind him: when the movie begins, McCall's thirty years old, having left Beacon Hills behind and living a life of a boring adult somewhere in LA. As for Eli, who, as we learn from the clip, had some solid success on the lacrosse field, he's going to be the driving force behind the movie alongside with new and badass evil version of Allison who comes after him.

As revealed at NYCC, Teen Wolf: The Movie premieres Jan. 26, 2023, on Paramount+.
