The Winchesters pilot aired, and the show has earned 90% of the audience's approval, according to Google.

Supernatural fans know just how well the show can communicate with or poke at viewers or hide something to find it later in the episode, which made the fans rewatch them and try and catch every single little Supernatural call out that they didn't get with the first watch. Many took it to Reddit to discuss and see what else was there for us. Let's go through some of the takes we've found so far.

Family Business

The very obvious node to Supernatural is right on the nose: Mary and John are looking for their fathers, just like Sam and Dean did since episode one look for John.

Some fans on Reddit have also noted that they can't help but see young John channeling Sam, "Similar nose, height, his half smile/smirk, his hair, his gestures, and faces. I had to look him up to see if he was related to Jared," making it feel like the two are indeed father and son separated by a couple of decades.

Also, Mary wore the same charm bracelet that she was wearing in Supernatural episode 3 of season 4.

Dean and The Baby

By the end of the episode, we see Dean leaning on the baby, as he narrates what is there to come, and some sharp eyes have noticed that the Baby had the old license plates on her, and Dean's amulet hung on her rear-view mirror.

Dean himself is a huge Supernatural reference in the flesh, but he also brings our memory to his banter with Sam from the Supernatural pilot, "Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole," and says, "I'll keep picking the music."

The Sounds and Music

Right in the title card, we can hear a familiar growl we've heard in Supernatural. Another familiar sound that everyone could notice is "the sound of the electricity being turned on in the bunker like when Dean flipped the switch in theirs," according to one of the Redditors.

Music in one of the scenes with John and his mom is a theme titled Americana by Jay Gruska, which was often used in Supernatural in seasons 1 through 5.

The Show and Creators

Even in Supernatural, we've had some nodes to creators of the show, like our favorite Bobby being named after the show's director and writer Robert Singer. In the pilot of The Winchesters, some of those Easter eggs too. From what fans have noticed so far:

  • Henry's middle name is Eric (shoutout to Eric Kripke)
  • Manners Motel postcard (shoutout to Kim Manners)
  • One of the files with D. Nutter's name on it (shoutout to David Nutter)
  • Mary calling John Solder Boy (shoutout to Jensen playing Soldier Boy in Kripke's The Boys )

All of that was in just a pilot. Who knows how many more fans will be able to catch in the second episode, which is about to air on October 18.
