Now that Russel T. Davies is back, is there a chance?

Summary:

  • Doctor Who is an iconic British science fiction show that has been on the air since 1963.
  • The Doctor is known to be lonely, an alien of his own kind, but the show has already introduced two of his relatives.
  • Fans would like to see his daughter Jenny, his granddaughter Susan or his wife River Song return.

There is nothing more fascinating for the audience than space and the future. And if you were to combine the two by chance, you would get almost 100% recognition, regardless of the quality of the movie, TV show, book, or video game. That is how humans work: always curious about something we cannot find out.

Doctor Who is a British TV show that has always been very daring in its prognosis of humanity. The show, which has been on the air since 1963 and is still going strong, conquering more and more countries, focuses on the alien with a suspiciously human-like look and a kind enough soul to protect us all from all the dangers of the universe.

Throughout the seasons, there have been many great characters, companions, and antagonists that fans are eager to see return. After all, when the Doctor travels through time and space, it wouldn't be so hard for him to go back to the 70s or the late 00s to get someone he particularly liked back on board the TARDIS.

One of those characters that fans can't seem to get enough of is River Song. The femme fatale kind of character, half Timelord and half-human, who was a romantic interest for the Doctor, and who many historians of the universe would call his wife. As well as his killer. Such a complex relationship deserves a little more exploration, many feel.

But there is someone else, even closer to the Doctor, who would make a wonderful and heartfelt return.

Doctor’s Daughter and Granddaughter

Although the Doctor is somewhat proud of being on the loose, and constantly reminds everyone that he is alone, the last of his kind, this is not entirely true. In fact, throughout Doctor Who's long run, there have been at least two relatives of the Doctor present in his life.

The first was Susan, the First Doctor's companion, who traveled with him through time and space and accidentally fell in love with 20th-century human culture. Then, landing in the 2160s, Susan met a man named David Campbell. She fell in love and was forced to make a choice: return to her grandfather or spend the rest of her life with David.

When she chose to stay, the Doctor left her alone. There were some hints later that the Eighth and Thirteenth Doctors were particularly keen to visit their granddaughter on Earth 2160, but we as viewers never saw her. And that would certainly be a great plot for an episode.

Another of the Doctor's relatives is his daughter Jenny. Since baby Timelords are not cooked in the same way as human babies, the Tenth Doctor who met her had no real parental feelings towards her. In fact, he was angry, since Jenny was an artificial creation taken from his sample without his knowledge.

In the long run, however, they proved to be much more for each other. And if he hadn't thought that Jenny had been killed by the bullet, he might have come back to look for her. Then again, who's to say she couldn't run into him instead?

Whether Susan, Jenny, or even River will be mentioned in the upcoming 60th anniversary Doctor Who specials remains to be seen. Tune in to Disney Plus on November 25th to find out.
