Luke Skywalker is an iconic figure in the Star Wars universe and his appearance in any spin-off show is always sure to get fans excited.

The last time we saw him onscreen was in The Book of Boba Fett, however, there is hope that we might meet him again in season 3 of The Mandalorian.

Season 2 of the show saw a brief appearance in episode 5 by Ahsoka Tano. You might remember that Tano was the former padawan of Anakin Skywalker – and fans lapped up the performance of Rosario Dawson as the Togruta Jedi.

Naturally, this appearance gave rise to fan theories that we may see her again in the next season of The Mandalorian. And some are even speculating that she may return alongside Luke Skywalker.

In The Book of Boba Fett, Luke gave Grogu an ultimatum after sensing that the child was not fully committed to his Jedi training. Grogu was given the choice of continuing his training in the ways of the Jedi or going back with Mando. He chose the latter and was reunited with Din Djarin. But not before his Jedi abilities had been reawakened during the time he spent under Luke's tuition.

So, Grogu now finds himself at a crossroads. Mando can't train him as he doesn't have the power and Ahsoka has already refused to train him. Which leaves the path clear for Luke to return and continue mentoring the little guy.

There are various theories about exactly how Grogu's training might be implemented. Some say it will require Luke to share responsibility for his development with Mando owing to the fact that Grogu's bond with the Mandalorian is so strong.

Others have speculated that Ahsoka will assist Luke. This makes sense as her concerns over training Grogu were mostly related to fears he may go the same way as Anakin – something that would be less of a worry with Luke onboard.

Of course, there is another theory.

It could be that Grogu is trained by a combination of Ahsoka and Mando. Now, this seems less likely as Ahsoka would probably refuse once more. Which is why Star Wars fans are getting hyped for the return of Luke Skywalker. In many ways, it seems the only plausible next step in the story.

And, yes it's just a rumour right now, but it's one based on logic and reason.
