Despite the fact that the role in HIMYM became the most significant for the actor, he was not afraid to depart from the familiar image and starred in a number of big projects.

Neil Patrick Harris is best known for his participation in How I Met Your Mother. In 2005, the actor got the role of ladies' man and womanizer Barney Stinson, which became perhaps the most successful of his film career and brought Neil and other cast members worldwide fame.

The series aroused great interest among viewers and caught up in popularity with the famous Friends.

The sitcom ended in 2014, and in the same year, David Fincher's detective thriller Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck, was released. Harris himself considers it an incredible success to have participated in this movie, where he played a devoted admirer of the main character.

In early 2017, the show A Series of Unfortunate Events premiered, based on author Daniel Handler's fairy tales.

In the previous adaptation, this role of Count Olaf was played by Jim Carrey, but the creators changed the concept and relied on Harris.

Neil played an important role as Cage's agent, Richard Fink.

Most recently, the actor returned to his most important and most recognizable role – he once again played Barney in the spin-off of HIMYM, How I Met Your Father.
