"Three Rings for the Elven-Kings under the sky."

Amazon's Rings of Power takes its name from the most powerful objects in literary fiction. The Rings of Power themselves. Tolkien hadn't introduced the Rings of Power in The Lord of The Rings initially. However, he edited The Hobbit to tie into the story at a later time. The Rings are as part of Middle-Earth as the Dwarves, Hobbits, Men, and of course, the Elves.

Elves are the most mysterious and powerful beings in Middle-Earth. They are fair, beautiful, and immortal. They are often shown as graceful, moral, and selfless. However, even they cannot resist the allure of some powerful jewelry. Elves and the Rings of Power have an intertwined history.

The Rings of Power are a set of twenty magical rings that Celebrimbor forged on the orders of Sauron during the Second Age. Sauron tricked Celebrimbor into forging them, which Sauron planned to use to manipulate the rulers of the Middle-Earth. Of these Rings, nine went to Men; seven went to the Dwarves, three went to the Elves, and one remained with Sauron himself.

While we are all familiar with the One Ring due to The Lord of The Rings, which focuses on the object itself, others are more mysterious. For instance, the three elven rings were hidden from Sauron and were created to preserve the lands of the Elves. They were not designed to dominate as the others were.

The Elves used their Rings of Power to heal and protect their domains from evil. While Sauron was also connected to these, his control was only a fraction of what he could exercise over Men and Dwarves. So, who wore The Rings, then?

The first of the Elven rings, called, Narya, was worn by Gil-galad. It was later passed down to Gandalf, the old wizard we know and love from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It had the power to resist tyranny and evoke hope from others. If you have seen Gandalf and his effect on his fellows, you know this to be true.

The second of the Elven rings is called Nenya, and Galadriel wore it. Nenya had the power to protect and preserve all that was pure. It also acted to conceal the lands of Lothlórien from the grasp of Sauron and his Orcs.

The last of the Elven rings is called Vilya, passed down to Elrond from Gil-galad. It is mentioned that Vilya is perhaps the most powerful of the rings. There aren't many details as to what this ring does, but it is likely that the power of healing and preservation coursed through it as well.

Elron and Galadriel are prominent characters in The Rings of Power so keep an eye out for them. It is expected that more will be revealed regarding the Rings and their secrets.
