Let's face it – we all know that the Oscars are an exclusive club, and both the nominees and the winners are usually decided months before the actual ceremony, with major producers and studios clearly having some sort of influence on the final results.
But this year in particular, so many great films were overlooked by the Academy that fans began to wonder whether or not the academics were actually watching movies this year.

While it's obvious that films like "Oppenheimer " and "Barbie " dominated the conversation last year, that doesn't mean they have to overshadow all the other great films that came out in 2023, stealing the spotlight from them not only in terms of publicity and box office, but also at awards ceremonies.
All of the movies mentioned above are easily on par with the biggest hits of 2023, and the only thing that separates them is the marketing budgets, which were certainly huge for both "Oppenheimer" and "Barbie."
It's sad that the biggest movie award in the world prefers to stick to mainstream movies instead of venturing out of the comfort zone and picking underrated films as nominees for a chance.
The Oscars 2024 will be held Sunday, March 10, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The event is to start at 7 p.m. EST.
