Many fans demand that Christopher Nolan direct the new Agent 007 movies, and that’s entirely justified: in 2010, the director proved himself worthy of the franchise.

Summary:

  • Christopher Nolan has always loved the James Bond franchise and said it would be a “privilege” for him to direct the new movies.
  • In 2010’s Inception, the sky chase scene was an homage to 1969’s On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Nolan’s favorite Bond film.
  • Fans are eager to have Nolan take over the James Bond franchise, and Inception proved him worthy of directing the upcoming series.

Christopher Nolan is among the most successful and well-respected movie directors of this generation who has millions of fans all over the world. After Oppenheimer, Nolan’s next project hasn’t been announced yet — but his notion about directing the new James Bond movie has caused quite a commotion among the audience.

But while many want Nolan to direct the new Agent 007 series, few people realize just how well-equipped the director is for the task. He proved it 14 years ago!

To become a great director and storyteller must study others’ movies and stories to succeed. Christopher Nolan indulges in that, too, and some franchises have become his absolute favorites over the decades of his professional career. James Bond is one of them, and despite his stellar track record, the director is reverent before it.

After Oppenheimer, Nolan visited the famous Happy Sad Confused podcast to talk about his latest masterpiece, his plans, and his vision for his future works. When addressing the rumors of his potentially directing the new Agent 007 movies, Nolan said that would be a “privilege” to him, thus sparking another wave of speculations.

Nolan Already Directed a James Bond Bit

Ultimately, Christopher Nolan has already proven himself worthy of inheriting the iconic movie franchise. Back in 2010, the director released his famous Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio — the film that, despite having an original concept, was sort of Nolan’s sci-fi take on James Bond. In IMAX’s Behind the Frame, the director admitted that Inception was an homage to Bond, and one scene sticks out the most.

“Certainly, with the end of Inception, if you look at the end of it with the sky chase and the big fortress in the snow, that was a big homage to On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which is my favorite of the Bond [movies],” Nolan revealed.

The thrilling action-fueled chase has indeed many similarities to On Her Majesty's Secret Service, being directly inspired by it. Seeing how overwhelmingly positive Inception’s reception was (sorry for the mouthful), we’d say Christopher Nolan proved himself more than worthy of taking over the biggest spy franchise in history.
