4 Epic Fails From Cult TV Shows & Movies That Show How Not to Spend Valentine's Day

Just avoid these mistakes and your Valentine's Day date will be just fine.
On Valentine's Day, many couples give each other sweet gifts and arrange romantic dates. But sometimes surprises turn into mistakes, and dates can be fatal.
Here are four on-screen Valentine's Day fails that show you what not to do on the most romantic day of the year.
1. Friends (1994-2004) – Don't Regift Your Ex's Presents
Episode 17 of Season 6 tells the story of how friends celebrate Valentine's Day, focusing on Monica and Chandler. They agree to give each other something handmade – but both are faced with the fact that making a gift with their own hands is not so easy.
After giving up on papier-mâché, Monica gives her lover a homemade bunny made from an old sock, and Chandler finds a music cassette tape and passes it off as a collection of Monica's favorite songs (recorded with his own hands, of course).
But the cassette turns out to be a gift from Chandler's ex – while listening to it together, the couple hears Janice howling to Frank Sinatra's My Funny Valentine.
Monica, who had felt guilty about the sock gift, is outraged. This is not surprising, since gifts from a past relationship devalue the current one and can really hurt your partner.
2. Gossip Girl (2007-2012) – Don't Lie about Your Plans for Valentine's Day
In Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 15, the Upper East Siders are celebrating Valentine's Day. Serena decides to ditch her new boyfriend Ben for a night out with her friends. She tells the guy she's spending the evening with her best friend, while Ben complains that he'll be busy with work all day.
However, the two end up meeting at a trendy New York party. It's no surprise that the future of this relationship is doomed.
If you think your relationship is too "fresh" to celebrate Valentine's Day together, be open about it: it's better to tell the truth than to be caught in a lie.
3. Sex and the City ( 2008) – Avoid Shocking Confessions
Just because your heart is free on Valentine's Day doesn't mean you have to stay home alone. You can always do like Carrie and Miranda from Sex and the City and celebrate Valentine's Day with your friend.
Just keep in mind that on this holiday, you don't want to share confessions about past lies and cause conflict.
Otherwise, the evening may end as unpleasantly as it did for these two: Miranda decided to confess to Carrie that she had influenced her failed marriage to Mr. Big, which caused a scandal and Carrie left the restaurant.
4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) – Don't Try to Forget Your Loved Ones
One of the most poignant love stories is depicted in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Clementine and Joel meet on a train on Valentine's Day. They fall in love on the most romantic day of the year, but their love story turns tragic.
Their relationship begins to deteriorate and eventually they break up. For Clementine, the breakup is so painful that she erases Joel from her memory. Following her lead, Joel also erases his memories.
Time passes, another Valentine's Day comes, and the two people who forgot each other meet again and, of course, fall in love again.
Trying to forget the person you love is pointless because memories are stored not only in the head, but also in the heart. If you are facing problems in your relationship, Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to spend some time together and discuss what is bothering you.
