Who doesn't dream of getting involved in a big project without having to try it out?

In the competitive world of acting, landing a major role often requires countless auditions and stiff competition.

Sometimes, however, luck or a proven track record of success and talent allow actors to secure significant roles without the need for an audition at all.

Here are 5 actors who have had the remarkable good fortune to be noticed and chosen by directors or producers, helping them to catapult straight to stardom with their big roles.

1. Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie's casting as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad was largely due to her chemistry with her Focus co-star Will Smith, who was also chosen to play the iconic role in the movie.

In an interview with MTV, the actress mentioned that she was offered the role without having to audition, which she considered a significant accomplishment as an actor.

Following the success of the film in 2016, Robbie returned to her iconic role as the black comedy superhero in two more films, cementing herself as one of the best Harley Quinns on the big screen.

2. Chris Evans

Apparently, Chris Evans never had to audition for his iconic role as World War II hero Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger.

The film's director, Joe Johnston, was familiar with Evans' previous work and was supportive of his casting, and the actor's genuine excitement and enthusiasm for the role, which he expressed during a meeting with the director, provided the impetus for the long-running on-screen presence of the most beloved Avenger.

3. Aubrey Plaza

Michael Schur, co-creator of the cult television series Parks and Recreation, created the character of April Ludgate, especially for Aubrey Plaza.

The decision was influenced by show casting team member Allison Jones, who called Schur, described Plaza as the "strangest girl" she'd ever met, and insisted he meets her.

After a few hours of uncomfortable communication, he found himself drawn to the actress and made the decision to include her in the show.

4. Harrison Ford

The casting director of the Star Wars franchise, Fred Roos, had a strong preference for the role of Han Solo.

The only actor he had in mind for the role was Harrison Ford, who had previously worked on another George Lucas project, American Graffiti.

However, Lucas had a policy against casting actors from his last film, and Roos had to cheat: he cunningly used Ford to build a door in the casting office, and when Lucas needed assistance as a reader for the auditions, he turned to Ford, which ultimately led to him being offered the role.

5. Peter Dinklage

From the very beginning, the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, knew exactly who they wanted to see in the role of Tyrion Lannister.

Peter Dinklage was directly contacted and suggested for the role, which led to the actor's visit to Los Angeles for a meeting.

Dinklage`s expressed interest in the role led to a positive agreement and one of the most phenomenal performances on television.
