It was a crime to end them all so soon.

The miniseries format is becoming more and more popular. To fit a story into 5-7 episodes, your script has to be perfectly written, which makes almost all of the released miniseries worth watching.

However, there are some stories that you want to explore more, and it seemed like the worst idea of all is to let them end abruptly, even if the story has already been told. Maybe a character's backstory needed to be explored more, or you wanted to see someone in a better place in life.

And when it comes to thrillers, there can never be enough mystery solving for one show. These five shows are definitely worth watching, but it would have been even better if they had lasted a little longer.

1. Sharp Objects (2018)

The series created by Marti Noxon focuses on a reporter named Camille Preaker, whose life gets complicated once more after she has to return to her hometown to cover a monstrous murder of two young girls.

The suspenseful story reveals all the troubles and traumas that Amy Adams’ character went through while living there before, but it seems like the show could have used a couple of episodes to explore her past even more.

2. When They See Us (2019)

This is a four-episode show that focuses on the actual case of the Central Park Five, a group of young men who were wrongly accused of assaulting a woman. Fans of the crime genre say it is by far the best miniseries ever created.

It's tough, and expresses the raw emotions of people who were found guilty but did nothing wrong. The gripping storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the show, wishing there could have been a little more.

3. Bodyguard (2018)

This Netflix show is created by Jed Mercurio and is considered to be one of the best series ever on the streaming platform. The show revolves around a war veteran, David Budd, who is tasked with protecting the Home Secretary.

Budd is a person who is not afraid to stand up to those above him, but soon enough all of this will almost end his career... What fans wish is that the writers give them more time to understand the mental problems that Budd had.

4. Unbelievable (2019)

This is an excellent crime drama with a female lead. The story of the show is based on true events, which makes it even more interesting to watch.

This Netflix show focuses on a young girl, Marie, who tries to sue a man for sexually harassing her, but then withdraws the report because instead of having justice on her side, she herself is accused of lying and making up stories.

Fortunately for her, two detectives will do everything to protect the girl from the instability of the world and make things right for her. Viewers agree that the show should have lasted longer, as the topic is very controversial and needs explanation.

5. Black Bird ( 2022)

This Apple TV+ series definitely deserves your attention if you are a fan of Taron Egerton ( former Kingsman agent). In the series, his character, Jimmy Keene, is sentenced to ten years in prison.

While in prison, he befriends a serial killer in order to help the police uncover the truth about the crimes he has committed.
