Even though it’s hard to highlight those extra moments...

How I Met Your Mother is one of the funniest sitcoms on television. The show ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2014. The show is quite unique in its narrative, as it constantly mixes the serious stuff with comic relief.

The show follows an architect named Ted as he tells his children stories from the past, trying to explain to them how he actually met their mother. And these stories are so funny that it's hard not to laugh.

So here are the most hilarious moments of them all.

5. The "talk like a baby" challenge

Barney Stinson is one of the show’s regular characters, who is famous for his bright albeit cringey sex life. Meeting girls at one point became so easy for him, that he decided to create odd challenges in order to make it harder.

One of the worst challenges was when he decided to pick up a girl in a bar while using... baby voice. It's the one with all the "w"s in words (pwease sowy). The scene is so cringe-worthy, it's impossible to hold back tears. But in the end, he manages to find a girl who is okay with it. What a skillful man this Barney is!

4. Ted trying to spell "Professor"

Season 5 episode 1 features Ted on his first day at college as a professor. And the most unexpected thing happens to know-it-all Ted. While trying to write "Professor Mosby" on the blackboard, he struggles with the spelling of the word "professor."

The scene is really funny and quite awkward, as he wanted to add another “f” in the word, but then he decided to glance back at the audience and noticed one student shaking her head. Grateful, he turns the "f" into an "e" and finally completes the nerve-wracking journey.

3. Interventions

One of the cutest things about the show was when the gang, Ted, Marshall, Lily, Robin and Barney, would have interventions to save themselves in various life situations.

But as time went on, these interventions started to happen at every silly occasion. So much so that it became a running joke for the gang to stage one for a member of the group.

They once tried to make Marshall give up his Dr. Seussian hat because, as they told him, it was an insult to humanity. The gang also tried to tell Lily that her fake British accent from watching too many "James Bond " movies wasn't fooling anyone. These scenes were some of the funniest in the show.

2. "The Wedding Bride"

The Wedding Bride is the name of a fake movie that was created in the show's universe. It was based on Ted's life when he was dating Stella. The thing is, she left him at the altar and ran off with her ex-husband, the director. Later, he released a movie in which Ted was actually portrayed as the villain of the story.

1. Robin Sparkles

There's no denying that the funniest story of all was the discovery of Robin Sparkles. It's the stage name that Robin had when she was a teenage pop star in Canada. She had this hit single called Let's Go To The Mall, which, as the show explained, caused her to develop an extreme mall phobia.
