Huge mistake!

We all love Friends for the amazing cast and storylines that have become iconic and reusable in our real lives. Fans of this legendary sitcom really began to care about the six main characters and were truly invested in every storyline they were caught up in.

But there were times when some of the side characters also became like family to the viewers, only to have the writers dump them in the mud and leave us alone. These five characters didn't deserve the finale they got, considering the time and emotion we invested in them.

1. Emily

There are almost no fans of the show who can say that Emily is their favorite character, but you will definitely hear a lot about how viewers hate her. The reason is pretty simple – the writers made her so unlikable there was no way the fans could root for her and Ross in any way.

However, some viewers feel that it wasn't fair for her character, who seemed funny and caring at first (remember the deer outside eating fruit from the orchard?), to be turned into a miserable, jealous woman.

And by the way, normalize asking your man not to be in touch with his ex!

2. Danny

Danny was Rachel's boyfriend for several episodes. He was their new neighbor who came back from a long trip. The build-up to their relationship was slow and funny, and we were really invested in them.

And just when we felt comfortable with them becoming a couple, the writers decided to introduce an insanely ridiculous storyline. According to it, Danny and his sister were really close, but in a creepy way. So Rachel had to let him go.

3. Janine

Another completely wasted roommate romance was the one between Joey and Janine. Janine was a dancer who moved in with Joey after Chandler and Monica started living together. Joey immediately had a crush on her, and we started following their relationship from roommates to lovers.

However, it all ended after only one or two episodes when the writers decided to make Janine a jerk by making her hate Monica and Chandler and Joey defending his friendship.

4. Gary

Gary was Phoebe's cop boyfriend. Their meeting story was cute and very funny when Phoebe found his badge and pretended to be a policeman to prevent some silly crimes.

Fans of the show really loved Gary's character, also because he was played by a great comedy actor, Michael Rapaport. His performance was amazing and his chemistry with Lisa Kudrow was just perfect.

The writers ended their love story in a ridiculous way by having Gary do something completely out of character like killing an innocent bird.

5. David

Another wasted character was David. He was introduced as the love of Phoebe's life in the early seasons, but ended up leaving the country and only returning at the end of the series to see Phoebe marry Mike.

So why leave him hanging there? The man's feelings were hurt!
