If you dropped this show after Season 1, it’s time to change your decision.

The legacy of American Horror Story continues to haunt Amazon Prime. In 2020, the studio released Welcome to the Blumhouse, a feature-length horror anthology, and a year later another anthology called Them premiered, which was immediately renewed for a second season.

What is Them Season 1 About?

The first season takes place in 1953 when the Emory family moves to Compton, California. Mother, father and two daughters dream of settling down in a new place, but the residents of the prestigious suburb are hostile – the locals do not want a Black family anywhere near them.

The gossiping housewives and their superiority-obsessed husbands try to make Emory's life a nightmare. The neighbors are successful in their efforts, but the Emory family is already afraid, feeling the ominous presence of unexplained phenomena in their own home.

Them is filled with an alarming, at first completely incomprehensible tension that reigns in the new home of the main characters. The Emory family has moved not only to improve their quality of life, but also because of a tragedy in their past that has affected each of them.

It's hard to understand what drives the characters crazy, but the atmosphere they find themselves in and the episodes that happen to them turn the series into a truly decent horror.

Them Season 2 Was a Resounding Success with Both Critics and Viewers

But while the first season titled Covenant received 58% from critics and 67% from viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, the second season titled The Scare caused a real sensation, receiving a perfect 100% from critics and 91% from viewers.

Deborah Ayorinde stars as Dawn Reeve. A woman working as an LAPD detective is confronted with a monstrous murder that shocks even experienced detectives. As the investigation progresses under Dawn's leadership, the woman's family is plagued by something evil and inexplicable.

Fans agree that the second season not only surpassed the first, but also became one of the best horror TV shows in recent years.

“The second season has to be some of the best horror I’ve watched in a while, especially in the format of a TV show. [...] The acting was top-notch, the story was great, the twist was cool too,” said Reddit user North_Neighborhood56.

Where to Stream Them?

There haven't been many TV projects in recent years that have managed to scare viewers without losing a coherent and thoughtful script – the second season of Them is one of those projects that succeeded in both directions.

So if you're a horror fan, it's time to check out Them and The Scare in particular – both seasons are available on Prime Video.
