'Thor 4' test screenings proved that Gorr the God Butcher will be the next big chapter for Marvel villains' history, with early viewers unanimously calling him the best one yet.
Taika Waititi's 'Love and Thunder' will once again delight fans with the adventures of the titular Asgardian, who will face one of the most powerful beings in the entire universe, Christian Bale's Gorr, determined to kill all the gods in the MCU. The trailer promised an accurate portrayal of a big bad guy, with his grayish skin color and dead eyes, and it looks like Bale's take on Thor's archnemesis will be just as wonderful in terms of character development.
Waititi recently revealed that Gorr was named the MCU's best villain by test audiences, and with Thanos, Altron, and Loki competing against him, it wasn't an easy title to get.
In a discussion on Reddit, fans decided to speculate on how Bale's performance could complement Waititi's script, and concluded that millions of MCU fans around the world might actually agree with the test audience.
"I wouldn't be surprised he poses both a physical threat but also an ideological one. There is some truth to what he believes and it will really challenge the Thor's morals. Also I love it when the MCU brings in these really well respected actors as main villains." – /LKMagnesium.
And of course, since Bale plays Gorr, fans are confident that the star actor had full confidence in the quality of his character's narrative arc before signing on for the film.
"I mean, he's Christian Bale. In no way would I expect him to sign onto a project if it didn't mean something to him, and in no way would I expect him to turn in a poor performance. I'm really excited for this one." – /TripleG2312.
'Thor: Love and Thunder' is set to release on July 8, 2022.
