There are many wonderful shows waiting to be made, and even more great pitches being submitted every day by writers all over the world. The only problem is that every production costs a lot of money, and the more complicated the setting, the bigger the budget. However, there is always one hack an independent production can use: crowdfunding.

You would be surprised at how much people are willing to donate to a production they can relate to. It's no surprise that the biggest crowd-funded show to date is supported by millions of Christians because it follows the story of the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth.

Is The Chosen About Jesus Christ?

Set primarily in 1st century Judea and Galilee, the series focuses on Jesus and the various people who met and followed and interacted with him in any way. Jesus himself is portrayed by Jonathan Roumie. The cast also includes Shahar Isaac as Simon Peter, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Paras Patel as Matthew, Noah James as Andrew, and many more.

The Chosen was created, directed and co-written by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins, who explained that he wanted to create a show that focused on all of the characters around Jesus as much as it focused on Jesus himself.

By carefully exploring each character's past and personality, all of the biblical stories portrayed on the show don't feel far removed from the reality in which modern viewers live, allowing for a more casual yet respectful approach to the person of Jesus.

That's what has made the show so popular and earned it a strong 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, even 4 years later.

Where to Watch The Chosen Season 4?

The show is available to stream on Netflix, Peacock TV and Amazon Prime Video, but there's a twist. So far, 4 seasons have been filmed, with the 5th season starting production this April. However, only 3 of them have made it to the streaming platforms and are easy to watch in the comfort of your own home.

Season 4 hit the theaters first and had an extended run there. However, it hasn't reached any of the platforms yet due to the legal reasons vaguely announced by Dallas Jenkins on his social media in March. Unfortunately, the 4th season is now only being distributed to churches and prisons.
