The makeover we all have been waiting for.

Summary:

  • Bridgerton is a romantic period drama based on Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name.
  • Season 3 is dedicated to the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
  • The first look at the season spoiled a big glow-up for Penelope, and fans are theorizing about its origins.

You don't have to change to be loved. This is the lesson that any romantic fiction should teach, but this is not what usually happens on television. In an industry where looks are still as important as talent if not more so, it's impossible to see character development without some kind of glow.

Bridgerton the TV show is already taking a huge step further from the original book for Season 3, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, by not having a female lead lose weight to fit the standard. But one change in Penelope Featherington's appearance was clear from the very first frame: she was no longer in yellow!

It looks like Featherington's third daughter is finally able to escape her mother's bad taste in fabrics. The question on fans' minds now is who will be the person to help Penelope find her own style?

In Julia Quinn's novel, the timeline is very different from that of the series. Penelope is a 27-year-old spinster when her story with Colin begins. So she has to make her own fashion choices. However, in the show, she would still be living under her mother's care, so it would be harder to get access to new clothes.

While some people believe that her mother would simply give up on her and let her be the way she wants to be, others don't believe that a woman so eager to find her daughter's noble husband would act so carelessly.

Penelope could have easily bought as many dresses as she wanted with Lady Whistledown's savings. But then she'd have to explain their origins to her mother and her sister Prudence, who's back at the bridal market since her cousin left at the end of season 2.

Most likely, Penelope will seek help from her new businesswoman friend, Madame Delacroix, who also happens to be the best dressmaker in London. To find a husband and forget her unfortunate one-sided attraction to Colin, she would need all the help she could get. However, the problem of explaining her choices to her mother remains.

If you are interested in finding out how Penelope's sudden change from yellow dresses to pastel mint and blue will be explained in Bridgerton season 3, be sure to tune in to Netflix on May 16, 2024 to not miss the premiere.
