Release, crossover, and more.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is back for its highly anticipated 17th season, and the trailer promises a fresh dose of chaos and absurdity. As previously announced, this season will feature a crossover with Abbott Elementary, seen from the gang’s perspective, adding a new layer of hilarity. The trailer also reveals that Frank (Danny DeVito) will star in a new season of The Golden Bachelor, further expanding the show's universe.

Season 17 is set to premiere on 9 July on FXX, with episodes available to stream on Hulu the following day. The official description teases that Ronald ‘Mac’ MacDonald (Rob McElhenney), Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day), Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton), Dee Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank Reynolds (DeVito) are returning to shed their ‘niche’ labels for bigger ambitions. They plan to exploit cross-network promotion to boost market share, scapegoat one of their own to dodge PR backlash, risk everything for a handshake with the Saudis, and bend laws through side hustles — all in pursuit of fame and fortune.

The show’s creators highlight that while the gang has always craved money and social privileges since 2005, they are also human beings who desire love, respect, conditional freedom, attention, gratification, and unfiltered chaos. In Season 17, they’ll chase all these desires — and of course, the money. They’re determined not to spend their lives working like dogs.

Produced by FX Productions, the season is executive produced by McElhenney, Day, Howerton, along with Michael Rotenberg, Nicholas Frenkel, Dave Chernin, John Chernin, Rob Rosell, David Hornsby, Nina Pedrad, and Victor Hsu.
