After Disney acquired FOX, the second highly anticipated team after X-Men to debut in the MCU is the Fantastic Four.
The second reboot of the team, now within the MCU, is set to release in 2025. At the moment, there is not much information available about the movie.
Even the cast hasn’t been disclosed yet. Rumors suggest that Adam Driver and Margot Robbie will be cast for Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
It’s no wonder that fans are speculating on how the upcoming movie will introduce the team and tackle the problem of their absence during the major events of the franchise. Let’s check out the most intriguing fan suggestions.
One theory suggests that these characters already exist in the MCU, they are just not superheroes yet, and the film will show how they acquire their superpowers.
The film might make Reed Richards and his teammates disappear after Thanos’ snap, and thus, explain why we haven’t heard of them. However, there is one problem with this suggestion — we’ve seen it before.
It was a great decision for MCU not to show Spider-Man’s origin for the 3rd time, as we’ve seen it in Sam Raimi ’s and Marc Webb’s movies.
The same way we’ve seen the Fantastic Four’s origin twice on the big screen: in the 2005 movie and in the 2015 reboot. And it wouldn’t be that interesting if we see it once again.
However, one theory suggests an interesting origin story for them, and it’s again related to Thanos. Remember when in Endgame Thanos snapped the stones away?
A team of scientists (the Fantastic Four) could have been traveling and researching in space when Thanos destroyed the stones. The cosmic radiation from destroying the stones might be the reason the Fantastic Four got their powers.
Another suggestion that would allow the upcoming movie to be fresh and unique is to set the narrative in the 60s.
The team might get stuck in time for some reason, whether it is Negative Zone or Quantum Realm, and then make their way back to the present day.
No matter what story we end up getting, fans are super excited for this movie and crossing their fingers that it'll shake things up in the MCU.
