Vincent D'Onofrio spilled some tea about the upcoming show.

Daredevil: Born Again is the MCU ’s soft reboot of the character who had his own three seasons on Netflix. It is scheduled to be released in 2024 on Disney Plus, but it may be delayed due to the current writers strike.

The character portrayed by Charlie Cox has already made an appearance in the MCU — in Spider-Man: No Way Home as Matt Murdock, and in She-Hulk as Daredevil.

Netflix’s version of the blind superhero was highly praised by the fans, and they were hoping the new Marvel show would have a similar vibe. But it looks like that's not going to be the case.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Vincent D'Onofrio, known for his exceptional portrayal of Wilson Fisk (Kingpin), shared that Daredevil: Born Again will have a distinct approach compared to the previous Netflix series.

“I think it’s definitely a new show. It’s not a Netflix show. [...] I can only say that it is a different show, and it feels like a different show,” D'Onofrio said.

Netflix's Daredevil series, which ran for three seasons from 2015 to 2018, gained a passionate following for its gritty tone, complex characters, and exceptional storytelling. The show's success was due in large part to its commitment to a dark, street-level narrative.

Some fans are feeling skeptical now, especially after seeing Wilson Fisk pop up in Disney Plus' Hawkeye. They're giving it flak for making the antagonist, who was a total badass in the Netflix show, come off as a bit unrealistic and out of character.

Vincent D'Onofrio's statement about the new Daredevil show being different from the Netflix series should not necessarily be seen as a negative.

The MCU has a distinct tone and style, which has contributed to its unprecedented success. By deviating from the Netflix series, Marvel has the opportunity to introduce Daredevil to a wider audience and integrate him seamlessly into the larger MCU narrative.

However, one of the major concerns with diverging from the Netflix series remains the risk of disappointing fans who have developed an affection for the characters and the distinctive atmosphere that the show has created.
