Is Daredevil: Born Again really going to disappoint us?

Daredevil: Born Again, an upcoming series that emerges as a spiritual successor to the previous Netflix 's three-season Daredevil saga, is set to re-introduce its characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, the recent news about the series doesn’t seem to be really promising.

According to the insider CWGST, “Daredevil: Born Again puts a focus on what Matt can do as a lawyer and what Kingpin can do as Mayor of New York. But when corrupt police start to misuse The Punisher’s logo, the Devil inside Matt is itching to be unleashed.”

Okay, while The Punisher thing may seem fresh, some fans felt like the first part of what the insider stated actually gives off major déjà vu vibes. If you watched the original Daredevil series on Netflix, you'll probably notice some striking similarities.

In the Netflix series, Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, doesn't exactly become the Mayor of New York, but he does step into the spotlight. He starts speaking out against Daredevil and tries to use his public persona to turn folks against the masked vigilante.

On the flip side, Matt Murdock, along with Foggy and Karen, went the legal route to try and take down Fisk. Apparently, we are going to see the same subplot again in the upcoming series. But not exactly.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show ended up looking more like a legal procedural. In Netflix's Daredevil, they managed to strike this balance between battling Kingpin legally and throwing down when the law didn't quite cut it.

Based on the reports, we can assume that the legal side of the fight against Kingpin prevailed in Daredevil: Born Again. The fact that the show doesn’t resemble Netflix’s Daredevil is actually why the studio is now looking for new writers and directors for the project.

It's a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, it seems like the Daredevil reboot isn't quite hitting the fan expectations right now. But on the flip side, the studio's giving it another shot, and there's still a glimmer of hope that it can be both fresh and reminiscent of the Netflix series we loved.
