Sometimes it's best to stick to the good old formula instead of trying to reach new horizons.

The biggest flop of the year – that's what we can easily call the new Disney movie Strange World, which was released in 2022.

The reason why we can do that is pretty devastating for the production company. It seems that the fans all over the world didn't appreciate the idea of it.

That's why the box office for the movie was only $73.6 million.

This wouldn't sound so bad if we didn't know how much Disney spent on the production of the movie. It turns out that the profit margin was actually a joke compared to the loss they suffered.

The budget for Strange World was $317.4 million, so the price for the biggest box office flop of last year goes to Disney.

Actually, fans are trying to speculate as to why this even happened. The first reason is that there was a lack of PR for the movie.

It turned out that a lot of people just didn't know the movie existed, so they wouldn't go to the theater to see something they didn't know about.

Another possible reason for the flop is its release date, which coincided perfectly with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever just two weeks before.

But the main speculation is that the idea of the Strange World movie wasn't well received because of its LGBTQ+ characters.

While it's great that Disney strived for more representation, many fans believe it went too far this time A gay couple, a dog with a missing leg, an independent woman character, father-son issues and other typical "woke" movie tropes just seemed like too much to handle and keep track of.

Still, it's very likely that the combination of all these reasons made The Strange World Disney's biggest flop.

Even for a giant company like Disney, it might be nice to occasionally learn from its own mistakes.
