At one point, the Hermione Granger actress almost made up her mind to drop out of the movies altogether, and she discovered the sad reason for that in her old diary.

We all generally consider that starring in the Harry Potter movies was immensely fun for everyone involved, especially for the younger cast members — the kids who joined the cast when they were around 11-12 years old.

This is generally true since they had each other’s company, could learn from their iconic colleagues, and were taken good care of.

However, there’s always a “but,” and the most obvious “but” in this case was the childhood that the Golden Trio actors experienced very differently from their peers beyond the confines of the movie set. In some ways, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Daniel Radcliffe were actually deprived of parts of their childhood.

Even despite all the positive factors that came along with starring in one of the world’s most popular movie franchises, the young actors were still pretty stressed about being different and less free than other kids — especially, when they became teenagers. The realization of this huge gap was wearing them down at times.

Emma Watson, for one, was feeling so lonely and saddened because of that she actually seriously considered quitting the franchise halfway through. Those were her teenage years, and the young actress just wanted to live a normal life. Watson shared this on HBO Max ’s special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

“I did find a diary entry that was kind of like…I could see that at times I was lonely. I think I was scared. I don’t know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point where you were like, this is forever now,” the actress explained.

Rupert Grint confirmed that he had similar feelings at times and also considered quitting the Harry Potter franchise but decided against elaborating on that.

What can we say except we’re happy that they all stayed and brought these amazing movies to us? It surely must have been hard for the teenage actors and we feel for them…and still, at the same time, we’re grateful that they stuck with us until the end.
