The Witcher community keeps throwing tantrums over Henry Cavill's departure from the movie and it is not only Netflix that fans are bashing hard.

Liam Hemsworth, who's set to take over for Season 4, has also become a target of angry comments.

Go to Reddit and you'll get an idea. One of The Witcher fans believes that they can literally imagine Liam asking "what the f*** is The Witcher?" Another comment says that Hemsworth isn't going to be good anyway, so why bother!

Henry Cavill' s The Witcher Exit Originated All the Way Back in Season 2

And that's despite Liam Hemsworth making a post on his Instagram page saying he is in fact The Witcher's fan and that he is happy to inhabit Geralt.

"As a Witcher fan I'm over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I'm honoured that he's handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure," he wrote.

The Hunger Games actor confessed that he was Cavill's fan for years and was inspired by what he brought to this character. Hemsworth understands that he may "have some big boots to fill", but still he is truly excited to enter the The Witcher universe.

Some fans seem to listen to his words, admitting that it is not clear if Hemsworth positioning himself as a "Witcher fan" is just PR talk or not. Still, apart from righteous anger, there are other more sympathizing opinions.

"Poor guy. Just getting ricochet hits over here," reads one comment in a Reddit thread about Liam Hemsworth being not right for Geralt. Fans can't blame Liam, and he doesn't deserve getting flak over this situation; he can surely be a fine replacement for Cavill who, of course, is free to leave over creative differences. It's the director and the lead writer who caused the whole thing, one of the commentators believes.

It really makes sense to not start a witch hunt now. The anger and frustration are understandable because Cavill was 100% perfect as Geralt and fans want no one else but there was no guarantee Netflix would honor any seven-year commitment when a show is canceled or renewed every year. Things will certainly calm down after the season is released.

"I feel sorry for Mr. Hemsworth. He is jumping into a very difficult situation," one user says.

There's no pleasing the crowd. And at this very moment no actor seems to be as good as Cavill (at least for The Witcher fans).

Season 3 of The Witcher is expected to be released summer 2023. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is set for a Christmas 2022 release.
